1960 Velocette Venom 500cc , excellent runner, MOT, very lively !
1960 VELOCETTE VENOM 500CC Here is a very sweet running and very fast example of the highly desirable 500cc Velocette Venom. This machine is not freshly restored but in generally good all round useable condition. It is in perfect condition for everyday use, restoration or possible conversion to Clubman rep or even Thruxton style. My view these days is to enjoy bikes more or less as you find them and this one is ready to enjoy. In fact it’s one of the smoothest and quickest venoms I’ve ever ridden. The bike is in excellent ready to ride order. It starts very well and the engine sounds really superb. Totally mechanically quiet and no smoke. It ticks over like a baby and pulls like a steam train! A brand new Amal carb has recently been fitted.The gear box and clutch are all in good order. The dynamo is charging well on a 12volt system with excellent lights. The Smith’s chronometric speedometer is working well too. Brakes are excellent front & rear. Handling spot on! The bike comes with V5C document. The reg number 6906 RF is non transferable to another vehicle. Date of registration is 22nd July 1960, frame number is RS15272, engine number VM3354. These numbers match the V5C doc but I am not 100% convinced that the frame number is the original factory stamping anyway.There is an MOT until Feb 2016 and the bike is registered for historic class (free) road tax.
