Yamaha XS650 SE 1977 UK Registered with V5
Welcome to the auction of my Yamaha XS650 SE 1977-78. It is UK road registered and I have the V5 in my name. Although road registered there is no MOT and it’s on SORN. It has covered 22400 miles. The engine and frame numbers match and begin with 2FO. I have owned this bike since January 2013 with a plan to convert it to a Cafe Racer. I can’t see myself getting around to doing this project as I rarely find the time. It’s in very good condition considering its 38 years old. The paint is good and the chrome work is in great condition. It has been stood unused all that time until recently when I performed some jobs. I have replaced the fork oil and dust seals and given the forks a good clean. The chrome is in really good condition and now the forks perform great. I also replaced the starter motor to engine seal and also the one inside the starter motor itself as there was a slight leak. I treated the engine to new oil and there are no leaks now. I bought two new fuel tap seal kits as the old ones leaked badly, they are fine now. The carburettors have been cleaned and reassembled with new float needles as I couldn’t get a seal with the original items. I also replaced the battery. The engine runs fine but would probably benefit from a carb tune. I have fitted a brand new front brake master cylinder unit. I have kept the original which is included in the sale.
