YAMAHA XS650
Hi this is an XS650 mostly finished project that I have run out of steam to complete. It is basically a runner barring the smokey right pot (more on that later), it is shown in the pic with forks out as I painted them a while ago but will all go together again if the necessary interest is shown. This was a former project by previous owners and would jump out of first gear when I acquired it a few years ago but was a runner. I have not had it on the road due to not being in a hurry and fixed the gearbox (worn 1st gear dogs) in the first year. I bought it with no electric starter and I have now converted it to run without a battery using an RD magneto and PAMCO pointless ignition system. The intention was to run it as an old rat bike for commuting and then I got carried away whilst trying to keep a certain patina so now the frame (original looked like it was built in a dockyard) welds have been tidied and all repainted by a local company. I have left the tank as I got it which is I think is kinda cool even if not a fantastic job. The electrics were all tidied away (what's left of them :) though I'm not exactly over the moon with the stainless box over the headlight (done by others). Rear frame had to be welded and made good after former owner cut it off! and I had a mudguard and light made up for it. The handlebar levers / grips could do with replacing too. Wheels are some sort of mixture of maybe original and not! with classic type tyres for that original bad ride feel :) Afte...
