If you’re planning a break on Spain’s southeast coast, a La Manga hotel could be the perfect base. It sits on a narrow strip of land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor lagoon, offering beach views on both sides. The area is popular with families, water‑sport fans and, surprisingly, motorsport enthusiasts heading to nearby race tracks.
Most hotels here range from budget apartments to five‑star resorts, so you can pick a spot that fits your wallet. Common amenities include free Wi‑Fi, outdoor pools, and easy access to water‑sports like windsurfing, paddle‑boarding, and kite‑surfing. Many properties also have on‑site restaurants serving fresh seafood and traditional Spanish dishes.
Rooms are typically bright, with large windows that let in plenty of sunshine. You’ll find air‑conditioning, a small balcony or terrace, and a simple bathroom with a shower. If you book a higher‑end hotel, expect extra perks such as a wellness centre, spa treatments, and a private beach area.
Service is generally friendly and relaxed. Staff often speak both Spanish and English, which makes checking in a breeze. Breakfast is usually included and comes as a buffet with pastries, fruit, yoghurt and hot drinks. Some hotels also offer a “late check‑out” option, handy if you’re catching a late flight.
For motorsport fans, the location is a short drive from the famous Cartagena Circuit and the MotorLand Aragón track, both of which host international events. Staying in La Manga means you can combine a racing weekend with a beach holiday without changing hotels.
Start by comparing prices on a few travel sites. Look for “free cancellation” offers so you can lock in a low rate early and still change plans if needed. Booking directly on the hotel’s website often gives you a discount or a free upgrade.
Travel in the shoulder seasons – late spring or early autumn – when the weather is still warm but prices drop noticeably. Mid‑week stays are cheaper than weekends, especially if you’re not chasing a race event.
If you’re flexible with your dates, set up price alerts. When a hotel’s rate falls below your target, you’ll get an email and can book immediately.
Finally, consider bundling your stay with a rental car or a water‑sports package. Many hotels partner with local providers and pass the savings on to guests. This can be a simple way to lock in transport, activities and accommodation in one payment.
Whether you’re after a relaxing beach escape, a splash of adventure on the lagoon, or a quick trip to a nearby racetrack, a La Manga hotel gives you a solid mix of comfort and convenience. Use the tips above, compare a few options, and you’ll land a great deal without hassle.

More than 100 guests, including children, fell ill with salmonella at the Cavanna Hotel in La Manga, Spain, after a Saturday buffet lunch. Corridors turned into makeshift treatment areas as emergency teams set up IVs and stretchers. Around 20 people were hospitalized, among them eight children and a 15‑month‑old. Authorities shut the kitchen, took samples, and began a full disinfection.
