Norton es2 ES2 500cc plunger ohv classic restoration project barn find single

For Auction is a plunger framed Norton ES2 499cc restoration project, the bike was taken by us in part exchange last year so I know little of its previous history. If you want a budget Norton and have skill, time and patience this migh be just the thing for you?The bike is incomplete and has parts missing so please study all the pictures with great care before bidding, what you see in the photos is exactly what is on offer and what you will get so if you don't see it assume it is not there. The frame is in good sound and straight condition and is also complete with the plunger units, the frome and model number are clearly stamped. The correct front and rear hub/ brake assys are also there and appear complete and good, the long roadholder forks are also present and complete. The engine and gearbox are also there but stripped down and incomplete the engine starts with a G prefix and the frame with an E prefix so the engine is 2 years newer than the frame, that said the spare short engine with the bike has an E prefix. The petrol tank is rusted through and will require major repair if to be salvaged.I have a V5C that came with the bike showing the age as 1953 but first registered in the UK in 1982 so i assume it was imported at this time?? The registration number LWV438 is transferable however the frame and engine numbers on the V5c do not match the ones on either the frame or engines! I was told that there were originally 3 bikes and all the best bits were kept to make one bike...
