BSA Bantam D1 Plunger 1954
Up for sale is my April 1954 D1 BSA Bantam, The V5C is present and in my name and the bike has a valid MOT until the end of April. I bought the bike as a box of bits minus an engine, sourced all the missing parts either new or where possible original second hand and dry assembled it I then stripped it back down and had all the metal work shot blasted and powder coated fitted new decals. The replacement engine I bought as a running engine as it was from around the same I used the bike regularly from Aril up to September last year, then put in storage, I now have no time to ride it so have decided it is time to move it on for someone else to enjoy. I went up to the store on Monday and the bike started third kick. Whist in storage it has developed an oil leak I assume from the gearbox, the winner can ride as is and top up or you could find the leak and sort. I don’t have the time to ride it never mind repair it. The bike is a BD2s framed direct electric version fitted with a very late YD engine. The more observant of you will notice even though it is YD engine it has the larger fin barrel for better cooling which would be the correct style for a 1954 bike. Being a YD engine it has the 50mm stud spacing so the earlier pineapple barrel should fit. The bike has also been fitted with a regulator to alleviate any bulb blowing problems and has a total loss brake light system fitted to conform to road regulations.
