Mgb Roadster
Introduced in 1962 with a monocoque 2 seater body and powered by a 1798cc four cyl engine with three main bearings, driving through a 4 gear gearbox having no synchromesh on 1st. Overdrive on third and fourth was an optional extra.
In 1967 the Mk2 had an all synchromesh gearbox with optional overdrive as before. An automatic was available also. The engine was fitted with five main bearings.
In 1974/5 to satisfy American legislation the suspension was raised and rubber covered bumpers fitted to front and rear.
1979 Limited Edition models available.
1980 The Abingdon factory ceased production.
MGBGT was offered from 1965 with 5 bearing engine and Pininfarina designed Coupe 2+2 coachwork.
