HONDA CB1100FD Super Bol d'Or
1983 CB1100FD Super Bol d’Or European Model 24k miles I acquired this motorcycle circa 3 years ago in a very very sorry state, I imported it from Holland where the previous owner had tried to turn the bike into a CB1100R replica (hadn’t succeeded!) I spent the next couple of years sourcing either NOS or good used & original Honda items to put her back to Factory specification, luckily the engine had not been modified / molested and a Compression test revealed a healthy 159psi/ cylinder. With new Oil/ filter/plugs/ battery and fresh fuel she started up first time! Sounding absolutely beautiful with a smooth deep tone 1980s Big Capacity Honda burble… FANTASTIC! Basically the bike is 99% original The chrome of the nuts and bolts cleaned up with a soft bronze brush and some Solvol the exhaust however did not stand the test of time and has been replaced by an original item that I stumbled across purely by accident in a Friends garage that had just bought a cache of spares and this Exhaust came along with the hoard.. . It really was a lucky find as it is in fantastic condition in the original Black Chrome (the finish which is soon to be made illegal) I spent the next two years uprating the original Starter Sprag assembly with the R6 mod, I have also had the alternator rewound and tested to confirm that the charging system is functioning perfectly, I have replaced the clutch basket & rubbers ( thanks Wout!), rebuilding the Anti-dive forks (a trying experience !)
